Many blocks of flats are owned by freeholders who manage the property and charge the leaseholders annual service charges. At Carbon Accountancy we provide the following services:
Audit and tax
- audit of the annual service charge
- preparation of tax returns for interest on the sinking fund
Investigations
Review of service charges to ensure that leaseholders are not being overcharged. We have often found that managing agents appointed by freeholders (particularly where they are managing large numbers of blocks of flats) often make errors – either in charging one block of flats for services provided to another block of flats, or in losing paperwork to support the payments made on behalf of a block of flats. In addition, some managing agents make mistakes in relation to what the lease provides for leaseholders to be charged.
